Poha

INGREDIENTS-

(Serves 2 to 3)

2 bowls of Poha (flattened rice)

1 big chopped Onion into squares

1 Potato chopped into squares

1 teaspoon Rai (Black Mustard Seeds)

1 ½ tablespoon Oil

5-6 Curry leaves (optional)

1 teaspoon Red chili powder

1 teaspoon Turmeric powder

1 teaspoon Garam Masala

1 teaspoon Dhaniya powder (Coriander powder)

Half a lemon

½ teaspoon crystal or 1 teaspoon refined sugar

Fried peanuts (for garnish)

Method-

In a big bowl add Poha and wash it properly. After this drain all the water and sprinkle Red chili powder, Turmeric powder, Garam masala, Dhaniya powder and salt and let it rest.

In a pan (preferably with more height) heat oil and to it add Rai and the curry leaves. To this add chopped onions and saute them till they turn golden brown. Then put in the potatoes , mix them and then cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for 5-6 minutes.

During this time, take a fork and mix all the spices with the Poha. Now add this mixture to the pan and mix everything well.  In the end add the sugar and the lemon juice. Mix well and put the pan off heat. Garnish with peanuts.
